    Scott,
There are two methods by which a claim can be locked, and both have slightly different methods of re-opening them for the purpose of supplements, etc.

First, if you are on a more recent version of Simsol, and locked the claim by simply putting a date closed in the Date Closed field, then the claim doesn't need to be 'unlocked' per se. You may continue to added items to estimates, and edit any claim information. In order to have the information and items you are entering appear as supplementary you will need to go to the first page of the Building Estimate (the one marked with the golden padlock), and about half way down the page, check the box that says 'Break Out Items.' Then, in the drop down list that appears next to it, select the Supplement option.

As for the second scenario, if you working on a much older claim or performed a lock of the claim by clicking on the padlock icon from the Claims Grid, it will be locked in such a way that you will not be able to edit the claim information without creating a supplement. If you wish to create a supplement on a such a claim, go into the claim and right click on the Building Estimate page (the one marked with the blue house), and select Supplement. If you need to get into such a claim, and do NOT wish to create a Supplement, you will need to contact us at 1-800-447-4676 and we will be able to unlock the claim for you.
